4 Of The Best Low Impact Sports
Picking the right exercise is essential if you’re going to keep up with your exercise routine. It’s impossible to stay motivated if you hate exercising. It’s also important that you think about your body’s limitations when you’re exercising. If you overdo it, you might end up injuring yourself. If you’re just getting into exercise or you’ve recently had an injury and you’re trying to get back into working out, you need something that isn’t going to be too hard on your body. These are some of the best low impact exercises out there.
Yoga is probably the best low impact exercise there is. People don’t realize how effective it can be, especially if you’re recovering from an injury. It’s great for toning up and stretching your muscles out and improving posture. There are plenty of great beginner poses that won’t be too difficult for you and then you can start to work up to the harder stuff. Yoga is also great for relaxation as well so if you’ve got a particularly stressful workout, you should definitely give it a go.
People don’t tend to think of golf as a fitness activity but it’s actually pretty good exercise. There’s a lot of walking involved which isn’t that intensive but when you’re doing it all day, you’ll still be burning a lot of calories. It’s also good for muscle tone because you use a lot of different muscle groups when you take your swing. Just take a look at all of the guys in the US masters, none of them are in bad shape, are they? It’s a great sport that is very low impact and it gives you the chance to get outside and get some fresh air instead of being stuck in the gym.
If you like the walking part of golf but you aren’t that bothered about the actual golfing bit, you might as well just go hiking instead. If you’ve just been injured and you aren’t up to running yet, hiking is a good way to ease yourself back into exercise. You can start out with some easy trails and graduate onto the harder ones until you’re ready to start running again. Hiking is ideal for people that love the great outdoors and you’ll get more of a workout than you think.
Swimming definitely gives you the best workout of any sports on this list. It’s a good cardio workout and you’ll be working pretty much all of your muscle groups at once when you swim. The water resistance means that you get a great workout but it’s not too heavy on your body because you don’t get all of the impact that you would get from something like running. On top of that, it’s a great workout for the lungs which helps you to build stamina so you can perform better in all of your workouts.
These low impact sports are great for getting a good workout without risking doing damage to your body.
