The Gentlemen’s Curb

It’s The Gentlemen’s Curb a lifestyle blog where fashion meets fitness in a BIG way. We are back to share some information with you. Keep reading below!

Most of us moan that we don’t have enough time. We don’t have time to work out, we don’t have time to hang with friends or check in with family, and we definitely don’t have time for hobbies. The truth is that no matter how hectic your schedule, it’s almost always possible to make time. You may only have half an hour spare on weekdays, but what’s most important is how you choose to spend that time. If you tend to waste every available opportunity, or you’re looking to take up a hobby that will benefit you in some way, here are some interests you may wish to pursue.

Exercise and fitness

Keeping fit is undoubtedly one of the most rewarding hobbies out there. Exercise is not just about defining abs or building biceps. Working out can help you build confidence, it can reduce stress and anxiety, and it provides you with a natural high. When your body is moving, it releases endorphins and the levels of serotonin in your body increase. You don’t have to spend your life at the gym, but making an effort to move more will work wonders for your physical and mental health. If you don’t like the idea of donning lycra and lifting weights, consider taking up activities like swimming, cycling, rowing, tennis, golf, boxing, or jogging. It’s worth trying out some classes and different activities and trying to find something you enjoy. Many of us assume that working out is dull, but it really doesn’t have to be.

Learning a language

Are you looking a for a hobby that will improve your job prospects, broaden your horizons and enable you to develop new skills? If so, taking language classes may be an ideal option. Learning languages will enhance your resume, but it also opens you up to a whole host of experiences when you travel overseas. You can also meet new people and improve your confidence by developing and mastering new skills.

Car maintenance

Most drivers dread the moment when they hear whining noises from the brakes or groaning sounds when they hit the gas or change gear. If you don’t have the first clue when it comes to car maintenance, and you’d love to be able to work your way around an engine, this is a hobby that could save you time and money. It’s worth taking basic classes, reading manuals and watching video tutorials to hone your skills. If you don’t know how to change tires, what to do about your engine oil or why you may need a brake fluid tester dot 3, why not take it upon yourself to learn? If you find yourself on the side of the road with flashing dash lights, your newfound knowledge could come in very handy.

Creative activities

You may think that creative activities are a constructive use of your time due to their enjoyment factor, but studies show that being creative can also help to prevent stress and reduce the risk of anxiety and depression. Many people find it difficult to express themselves by talking about their feelings, and pastimes like painting, drawing, and writing offer an alternative platform. You can choose to indulge your creative talents and passions at home on your own, or you could look into joining classes.

Cooking

Are you a self-confessed fast food fan or have you managed to convince yourself that you don’t have the time or the skills to cook? Cooking is a brilliantly useful hobby. When you cook at home, you have total control of the ingredients that go into your meals, and usually, home-cooked food is much healthier and heartier than ready meals and fast food mega deals. If you’re a novice in the kitchen, you don’t have to resign yourself to eating out of a plastic carton for life. You could take classes or simply spend some time searching for and following easy, quick, nutritious recipes. You don’t have to be a culinary maestro to eat well. As well as boosting your health, learning to cook could also save you a vast amount of money over the course of a month or a year.

If you had a bit of spare time, what would you do? There’s nothing wrong with enjoying a bit of downtime, but it’s also wise to consider constructive ways to make the most of your time. Hopefully, this guide will give you the inspiration you need to consider taking up a rewarding, useful, life-enhancing new hobby.
