60 Minutes To Fitness: Exercising On Your Lunch Break

If you find that time is fleeting when it comes to keeping fit, you are not alone. It seems to be harder than ever to keep track of your entire life but to also fit in a proper workout at least three times a week. But, here is a solution! It seems that now, your lunch time is the only option for people who are serious about keeping healthy. But before you think it’s impossible, you need to go into this with the right head on your shoulders…

Plan It

The thing you wouldn’t be tempted to do is your normal exercises, but if you are bored of specific exercises, or you do the same ones day in and day out, your body isn’t going to benefit from this. You need to mix it up; this is how you will get the maximum impact out of your workouts. Also, time is not on your side, if you have a 60-minute lunch break, that means you’ve got to warm up, cool down and fit the workout in. This is why high-intensity interval training is one of the best options if you’re trying to get a brutal cardio workout in. But beforehand, you need to time your workout at home, so you know exactly how long things will take.

Pick Routes You Know

If you’re going running or cycling during your lunch break, this is great, but you need to choose the path that is the least built up, especially in the middle of a city. There is nothing worse than having to negotiate busy traffic on your bike, and it’s so hectic that you will need help after a crash, this is not ideal, not to mention the fact that you will be back very late for work! Choose the quieter roots so you can be efficient in your workout.

Wash After You’re Done

As if it doesn’t need saying! Not only do you have to get in a workout, you’ve got to smell perfect afterward! This is where dry shampoo is a lifesaver, and even if you don’t have time for a full shower, make sure you give yourself a cursory clean. If you are indulging in incredibly sweaty lunchtime workouts, you need to be clean for the benefit of your colleagues.

Eat!

If you think that your lunch break is predominantly for lunch, you’ve got to think about it a little differently. Even though you are using your lunch break to get in a good quality workout, you still need to refuel. Even if you don’t know how much food you should eat after a workout, you still need to give your body the essential nutrients. The great thing about most jobs now is that you can eat at your desk, and if there is no issue with this, there is no reason for you to not take advantage of your lunch break and have a workout at this time so you can still enjoy your life outside of work.
