What About Me?
I don’t recall seeing many men with my body type gracing the cover of magazines. To be honest, it’s a rare occurrence. I remember being told that I was too big to perform certain functions, too big to play certain positions in sports. I felt ostracized in many ways. Especially in certain movies where the big guy only got sympathy “action” from the women. Because I had to witness these things, my confidence was affected.
Then one day the perceptions and opinions of others didn’t matter. I came to a realization. I am never going to be able to fit into a medium and I am absolutely fine with that. I teamed up with Sarah of Sarah Taylor’s Journey and we decided to provide some “size” representation by recreating a popular magazine cover. I hope that we did it justice. There is enough room for all body types to be represented in all aspects. We aren’t begging for inclusion, we are simply showing that we can. We hope to inspire others to feel confident within themselves by being the change that we want to see. Thanks for stopping by. Let us know what you thought about the post.
