Pre-Workout Rituals For Men Of Size

As men of size, we have to take the appropriate methods to prepare to work out. We are larger than most, so we have to approach fitness differently.  Preparation prior to your workout is imperative!  A sloppy preparation result in sloppy execution, which can lead to uninspired training sessions, injury, or a lack of mental motivation to carry you through the workout.  If you’ve heard of the term ‘hangry’ which combines the words hungry and angry to perfectly describe the sensation of feeling angry due to being hungry,  you will understand the effect of not eating can have on our mental mood and physical performance.  These pre-workout rituals are here to point you in the right direction to having a fulfilling and effective workout.

 

FUEL YOUR BODY

The Walking Dead With The Winston Box!

Normally, I write posts for men of size. Men that are considered big and tall, or plus males or even brawn men. But, I decided to do something different along with the good folks at The Winston Box. The Insanity

I don’t want to discuss the current season (there will be no spoilers on my blog) but I want to bring along The Winston Box while we speak about this show. This season Rick’s crew that we have grown to love are at war with Negan’s saviors. An all-out war is how this current season is defined as. Two seasons ago we witness TWD characters Glenn and Abraham beaten to death with a bat by Negan, while Rick and crew were surrounded by Saviors. It was a gruesome scene, Abraham was killed in front of his beloved lady and Glenn was killed in front of wife while she carried his child!

Initially, I was upset! I was angry! I ALMOST refused to watch the season. It scared me because I was a fan of Glenn. I admired his courage and that he always was willing to help people, even risked his life so that his comrades could have medicine. What a stand up guy! But, the reality of it is that the “war” is entirely Rick’s fault. Negan is a bizarre character, but Rick’s and his crews’ interaction with Negan is their fault. Yes! Be upset with me. You can hate me, just don’t unsubscribe from the blog! But, I am sure that due to information from Jesus, Saviors were murdered from Rick’s crew. Murdered. As much as we love Rick’s crew, but they were dead wrong. The standards that  I held Rick and his crew to are no more.

Life…

There is always an occurrence that sets you back if you let it. Many people tell me to “push forward” when I am going through a rough spell. But, the truth is that it’s hard to be consistent. I was dealt a very devastating blow and it set me back. I questioned, “how will I move forward?” But, with prayers and positive energy, I will learn to move forward! So, I apologize for my brief hiatus. But, I will not abandon my brothers in arms, men of size and the women in the plus-size community. I appreciate all of those that expressed their sincere condolences towards me and my family.

Better Days With Bad Rhino!

I have been doing so much these past days to stay busy. And clothing from Bad Rhino has helped me when I am out on the town representing for all men of size. At 6’1 and 312 pounds, I am sure that I am definitely hard to miss! So, I have to make sure that I am seen. I loved the burgundy bomber jacket from Bad Rhino. I matched the shirt with a plaid shirt and some  Bad Rhino denim. (Bad Rhino has some awesome denim, its like I can’t get enough of them. But, that’s another post.) The colors went together so well. I felt like an unstoppable Rhino.

These words from Prodigy of Mobb Deep verse on “Shook Ones Pt II” resonate with me. Although the Prodigy passed away his words definitely live on. Prodigy was part of the legendary Queensbridge rap group and became someone that help to raise awareness of sickle cell anemia. I don’t think that there is one fan of hip hop that isn’t familiar with the quote “Word Up, Son Word” when it’s accompanied with the sound of a stove lighting. (The awesome part is that I found these words spray painted in graffiti above me.)

In the same way that hip hop was once considered an underground voice. The voice of the poor and disenfranchised “inner city” youth. The spirit of that rebellion is infectious. The same voice that has been displayed for plus size fashion.  The fashion world especially has treated men of size as if we weren’t major. At all.  But after a lot of advancements from the plus size women’s movement, the brawn, the big and tall men and plus men have a platform to advocate for us.

Boohoo has become one of those brands that made clothes for men of size. I love the colors and I love hoodies especially. I am sure that there are part of the uniform for all men of size. I love that even the pockets are huge enough to place my hands into. I can fit a cell phone and a whole bunch of other items.

As a man of size, I am leery when I hear about brands that promote a product specifically for people of size. I am sure that all brawn men, plus size men and big and tall men can relate. I am an XXXL man. I am 6’1, I weigh about 312 pounds and wear a size 15 shoe. I am leery of brands that are trying to take advantage of people of size. Some brands say that their products are catered to us, but they don’t cater to us at all. Some brands just want another quick buck and don’t care about the needs of people of size.

So, when I heard of Big Fig. I was absolutely skeptical about the mattress brand. I am saying to myself  “here we go, another brand that’s trying to exploit us.” I laughed to myself.
