I prefer to keep it cool with shorts! They are a necessity. I RECOMMEND them heavily! (With a towel, of course!) Or you can wear a dashiki that will definitely keep you cool. It’s the Gentlemen’s Curb a lifestyle blog where fashion meets fitness in a BIG way! We are back to share some information with you! Those of us that are brand-conscious can pay a lot of money for a fresh pair of kicks. However, you don’t always have to spend a fortune for the privilege of a name. Here are just a few tricks for spending less on high-end shoes.

 

Shop online

Your high street retailers often have to cover the overheads of running a store. Online shops don’t have these overheads and can generally charge less. There are some online shops out there that specialize in finding the lowest prices on new shoes offering everything from cheap Jordans to cheap Nikes. Just make sure to always factor in the delivery cost, especially when ordering from a site abroad, as this can sometimes push up the costs.

Buy second-hand

You can sometimes buy designer shoes and major brands second hand for cheap. The likes of Gumtree are great for this purpose, whilst you may also be able to find shoes in vintage stores and flea markets. Some of these second-hand shoes may not even be used – they may have been gifts that people didn’t want or shoes that happened to be in the wrong size. If shoes have been worn, make sure to check the condition first (when shopping online, sticking to local sites can give you this option to visit the seller in person first before committing to a purchase).

Shop out-of-season

You can often find discounts on designer shoes by shopping out of season. If you’re looking for men’s Barbour winter boots, you’re best buying these in the summer when the demand for them is at their lowest and discounts are more likely to be found. Similarly, if you’re buying branded sandals, you’re best buying these in the winter in order to find the cheapest deals.

Hunt for coupons

You may be able to find coupons for retailers using the likes of Groupon. These can sometimes give you access to deals where you may save as much as 50% on a new pair of shoes. Many of these offers are for a limited time only, so make sure you take advantage of these coupons before they expire. Signing up to retailer mailing lists can also sometimes give you access to deals.

Be wary of fakes

There are a lot of fake designer shoes on the market – these are more common in places that are less regulated such as yard sales, second-hand sites and online stores abroad. These fakes are often advertised at very low prices and look the part on the surface, however, are often very cheaply made resulting in them wearing fast. The best way to check if a pair of shoes is real or not is to look for an identification number. For example, Nikes usually have an SKU number. If the shoes come with a box, the identification number should match that on the box. If the numbers don’t match or you can’t seem to find a number, it’s likely to be a fake.

Emotions

It bothers me that ideas of masculinity often deal with the idea of being non-expressive. It’s almost taboo for a man to express how he feels. It’s taboo, especially in relationships. Friendships or romantic relationships. We all hear the complaints of a man being “emotional.” Or in certain cases when we did express how we felt, we were ridiculed and made fun of. Or the line that most of the men reading this have heard too many times “it’s not that serious.” “Are you really mad over that?”

Why?

At what point can we express ourselves in a way where we won’t be ridiculed? I have been so conditioned to keep my emotions bottled in that I missed out on plenty opportunities. One may argue that those opportunities weren’t meant to be, but nonetheless, that fact remains that I didn’t express what I wanted and how I felt. It ended up being a huge issue for me in the long run.

Perception

Let’s be more specific, in matters of our health, when we feel pain and we should go for a check-up, we procrastinate because we have to “take it like a man.” Why the hell are many of us risking our lives because of a damn stereotype? I have come to the point that my health especially mental health is more valuable than how I am being perceived.
In matters of the heart, let’s just say I dropped the ball too many times because I didn’t want to be made fun of and laughed at. I wasn’t secure in being scared to be vulnerable at the hands of a woman that I had feelings for or maybe even loved.
When it came to my favorite artist, I could EASILY and VALIANTLY express how I felt, but I couldn’t express myself when it came to women or expressing my feelings in general.

I had a conversation on Sunday with someone and I wanted something from them so badly. I am sure that we wanted the same thing. They asked me what I wanted, but I was hesitant to say what I wanted. Moving Forward

I know that this post sounds like a bit of a rant, but I am putting myself on the chopping block so that other men that I KNOW go through this. This type of behavior has to cease so that I can move forward in my life.
1. You are valid and entitled to your feelings.
2. Always have to courage to say what you want. The world may not always be receptive, but you definitely owe to yourself.
3. Every king walks their own path. You can define your own destiny. Carve your legacy into the stone of life. (It sounds corny, but establish your legacy. Does that sound better?)

If there is one place in the world that you can witness real celestial magic, it’s the northern countries that hold the wonder of the Aurora Borealis. On a clear night, you can watch the colours refract off the atmosphere and feel like you are seeing magic happen in front of you.

It’s the Gentlemen’s Curb a lifestyle blog where fashion meets fitness in a BIG way. We are back to share some information with you! Dating is daunting for anyone. Women and men alike get flustered at the idea of the first evening with a potential partner. What if you both have nothing to talk about? What if you make idiots of yourselves? In truth, though, there’s going to come a day when you have to face up to the dating doldrums. Love could enrich your days more than you’d imagine. But, you won’t get there unless you go through with that first evening.

The good news is, as with many situations, getting this right is often about confidence. Believe you can do this, and the chances are you’ll impress. Most women love a confident man. Of course, for the most part, confidence comes from nothing more than believing in yourself. But, we’ve also got some pointers to consider which could take your self-belief to new levels. Comfortable in your dress

There’s a first date temptation to dress out of your comfort zone. After all, you want her to see you’ve made an effort. As such, you may step away from go-to outfits for something more upmarket. And, there’s nothing wrong with that as long as you feel comfortable. But, if you wear something which doesn’t suit your personality, your date is sure to notice. What’s more, you’ll find it harder to act confidently in a suit which swamps your character. Instead, opt for a happy medium. Wear something smart, but pair that shirt with a comfortable sweater, or a pair of your favorite shoes. The more comfortable you feel, the better position you’ll be in to make the right impression.

Confident in your conversation

There are certain things you need to understand in order to have a flawless look, like how to match your suit and shoes and balance colors, but they fall in that 10% labeled “nice-to-know”. The other 90% is simply wearing clothes that fit you well. It’s how celebrities like Brad Pitt, Idris Elba, and the Rock manage to look so flawlessly cool wearing nothing but a pair of jeans and a white t-shirt. We can’t stress this enough: wearing clothes that fit properly will solve 90% of your style problems. Period.

While a gentleman can never be overdressed, knowing how to dress for the occasion is a massive part of knowing how to dress well. For example, a summer wedding will lean more toward linen tailoring in shades of stone and cream, while a barbecue at your friend’s house will be more a pair with shorts, bamboo cay shirt, and tasseled loafers. It’s about getting the attention you deserve without seeking it out. Know how to do this and you will become the star of the show without having to raise your voice. Simple.

One of the easiest mistakes you can make is thinking you need to create a unique, individual and groundbreaking style. Don’t. Maybe one day, but not yet. Instead, focus on nailing more classic styles first. Look at Steve Mcqueen, Paul Newman, Cary Grant, Basquiat, Muhammad Ali, Malcolm X, and Miles Davis. Start there and then learn how to add a pinch of individuality over time.
