Now that the days are getting colder, the nights longer and the food is becoming more and more stodgy: it can be difficult, to say the least, to keep ourselves fit and healthy. If the thought of waking up at 6 am and getting out of the house for a run is making you feel dread, then you’re are not alone. No one wants to exercise in the winter; as humans, we hibernate in our homes during the colder months and stock up on plenty of warming foods and drinks. However, if you do want to keep yourself motivated to stay fit, you might want to look at a few ways of making your exercise more fun. I will probably keep going outside in New York City playgrounds.
If you play for a sports team or you simply like to go and have a kick-about with your friends once a week, why not switch things up next time and change the team you play for? It’s a small shift in your routine but it can be exactly what you need to get that adrenaline pumping through your body and that competitive streak to shine through. If you don’t already play a sport like a baseball or a soccer game in your spare time; enlist your friends and look for a local pitch, find a Sports Gear Lab best soccer balls, and get playing. It can be a great way to keep in touch with friends you don’t often see and will also be a way to get that heart pumping and work off your roast dinners.
Change Your Gym Sessions
If you like to stick to the free-weight section of the gym when you go for your sessions, take the time one day to switch it up and work on the machines instead. Simply changing what activities, you do in the gym will make you feel fresh and more alert because you won’t be going in on autopilot and doing exactly the same moves as usual. It will also benefit you in the fact that different parts of the gym will target different muscles- you may find that you tone up muscles you didn’t even know you could. And don’t forget that the gym is more than weights and machines. Many gyms will have a swimming pool for you to take advantage of, they will have punching bags for you to work off your frustration, and even yoga flow classes to test your balance and stamina. Change it up now and again and you’ll see the benefits. (Trust me, I am learning how to swim myself.)
Try Something New
Take the time to learn something entirely new. It could be dancing, Zumba, a new sport such as squash or even just how to train your muscles in a different way. Our minds can be very fickle, they will get bored after awhile of doing the same things. If you find you are getting bored at the gym, skip the gym and go for a run on the beach- do your burpees in the great wide world and enjoy the fresh air as you do. You don’t have to be confined to four walls.
I am going to definitely try these options myself! If you have a topic to cover, feel free to email us firstname.lastname@example.org It’s The Gentlemen’s Curb where fashion meets fitness in a BIG way.
