Want To Build Your Body? Here’s Where To Start
It’s the Gentlemen’s Curb a lifestyle blog where fashion meets fitness in a BIG way. We have some great fitness news to share! When you start your journey with weight loss and fitness, the first thing you will have to do is shred the fat. Once you have managed to do this you can start to build your body back up with muscle. Making the transition from obese to beast is not going to be an easy ride, and there are no quick fixes to turn you into an Olympic athlete overnight. However, here are some of the ways you can start to change your body for the better and grow that muscle you’ve always wanted.
Eat more protein
This is likely one of the first things you think about when the idea of building up muscle comes to mind, however not many of us will know the reason why. Protein is the substance in our bodies which is essential for creating hormones, cells, and muscle. Our bodies do produce some protein naturally, however, this is always used up for our bodily processes. This is why if you want to build your muscle you need to supply the body with more protein. Protein is found in meat, fish, eggs and even some forms of dairy. If you want to build your muscle you need to add these things to your diet. If you cannot eat meat for any reason, you will also be able to get protein from things like nuts, greens, and pea protein.
If you want to bulk up your body you are going to need to feed yourself more calories. It might seem completely counterintuitive to eat more when you want to stay lean; however the more calories you can take in each day, the more you will be able to burn through exercise. Every time you eat during the day your body metabolizes the food. Your metabolism is like a machine which needs to be kept running as much as possible to work effectively. This is why you are better off eating 5-7 small meals throughout the day for weight loss. If you want to build muscle, you will need to consume more calories to make your metabolism work harder. It might sound a little odd, but it does work.
Work your biggest muscle groups
When you are starting out with muscle building, the best thing you can do is to work in the largest muscles you have. The reason for this is that the bigger your muscles are, the easier they will build. But starting with the muscles in your chest, back and shoulders you will be able to build here quicker and therefore make it easier for you to move on to smaller groups later on.
It is important to always take some form of food before a workout. It is easy to say that sometimes you don’t want to eat a full meal before the gym; which is why a protein shake or smoothie is ideal. This will digest quickly and give your body the energy through carbohydrates and the protein you need to have an effective workout.
