Why You Can’t Find The Motivation To Work Out
We all know that we can use a little exercise to help us get fitter, healthier, stronger, and more self-confident. However, not enough of us acknowledge that working out is as much a mental struggle as it is a physical one. If you want to build yourself a better body (however you define that) but you can’t seem to work up the motivation, here are a few reasons you might be struggling.
Look at your goals
The more nebulous your workout goals are, the harder it’s going to be to meet them. Following your progress and seeing yourself getting close to those goals can give a real shot of motivation that helps you get over the challenging aspects of exercise. Look at workout goals you can set yourself, whether it’s losing a certain amount of weight, setting a new deadlift record, being able to run a mile long and so on. Find goals, set them, and break them down into smaller objectives that help you track your progress.
Look at your expectations
Don’t start off harder than you should. Can you try your hardest to bench your bodyweight if you’ve never exercised before? Sure, and you might even accomplish it, but you might seriously hurt yourself in the process. If you want to find yourself in the right headspace, you should try finding yourself in the right physical space, as well. If you’re genuinely feeling like you don’t have the energy to get up and move, it might not just be about motivation. There could be a medical explanation. If you can identify your motivation blockers and get them out of the way, you’re much more likely to start seeing real progress through an exercise regime that you can continue to follow in the long-term. Getting in the right headspace is as important as doing the right workouts.
