The Gentlemen’s Curb
It’s The Gentlemen’s Curb a lifestyle blog where fashion meets fitness in a BIG way. We do our best to cover all topics for men of size. If you consider your self a man of size, a plus male, brawn or a big and tall male, this is the site for you. Make sure that you subscribe to the site too. (We have something for all men too.)
You Aint A Model
If someone told me three years ago that I would be a model, I would have absolutely laughed in your face. There is no way possible that a 6foot plus, a 324-pound man would be a model. How is that even possible? I do not and never did look like the models that I saw/see on billboards and advertisements on television and other forms of media. I don’t have washboard abs, I don’t have a slim build, so becoming a model was NEVER a thought in my mind.
Men Of Size
It wasn’t until that the movement for men of size was sparked by the women in the plus industry. The women who have been diligent and consistent, that have allowed men of size to share their platform with them. As of late, there have been many designers that provide options for men of size to step out of the norm in the fashion realm and express themselves.
MVP Collections is a clothing line from Major League Baseball champion Mo Vaughn. I love the choices they have. I am stuck with “traditional” khaki slacks, button downs and polos. MVP Collections is definitely pushing the envelope for big and tall fashion. So when I got the call I was excited. What does a brand like that want with me? I thought to myself. But, I had to jump to jump at the opportunity and represent for all of the men that didn’t see their body types on billboards and popular media outlets. One great thing about modeling for a brand is that you get to see the upcoming season’s styles. (And the bomber is a MUST for the fall. I just have to find the right sneakers to match.)
Overall. I am thankful for the opportunity. I am extremely happy that I have been able to do print and runway work in the modeling world. (You can check that post here.) It’s truly an honor to represent for all men of size, it’s an honor to represent for the men that haven’t been represented. In time we will see men of all sizes, background etc on billboards and advertising campaigns. I hope that other brands will follow the lead; its time to include all men. We aren’t all the same. Much love to Mo Vaughn to see for seeing the vision. Until next time, it’s the Gentlemen’s Curb a lifestyle blog where fashion meets fitness in a BIG way.
