Fear & Liberation
This post is extremely liberating and terrifying all at the same time. For years my weight has been an issue for many people. The issue affected me so much that it became an issue with myself. I became extremely self conscious. I wouldn’t wear certain types of clothes. Out of fear of being ridiculed. (Yes, I was teased a lot because of my weight and my feet. A lot. I wear a size 15 shoe.)
With out the long essay, because I no longer feel sorry for myself. I love and appreciate my body. I am just making strides to be healthier.
So, I pushed myself and decided to show what was an insecurity of mine for years. For Years. I am talking about wearing t-shirts to the pool and the beach because I wasn’t sure of myself. (Now I wear t-shirts at the beach and the pool for other reasons.) But, as I tell many of my comrades “I am out here.” This summer as good as any time to let the guts out. Shed your insecurities. Face your insecurities. Live. Don’t waste your life considering the superficial thoughts of others. Be You.
Here Comes The Smoke
In many cases like this, I am sure that backlash will come. But, I am prepared to receive it,. You cant assume how people will receive you. You have to live with yourself and be ready to stand by your choices. We would love your feedback too! Feedback about the message and the look! Feel free to email firstname.lastname@example.org The shirt is from Bonobos, I am loving their extended sizes campaign. The shorts are from some of my favorites, The Winston Box. The shoes are monochrome from Converse.
Until next time, It’s The Gentlemen’s Curb a lifestyle blog where fashion meets fitness in a BIG way.
